So far, this year has seen lots of small projects for me.
Pieces for Issue 3 of the games magazine I edit have been coming in hot (I did two yesterday). Yesterday I also began a short-turnaround project for a company I recently started freelancing for. They gave me three days to complete it, and I’m on track to finish it early.
I also have the regular blog posts I copyedit for a client.
These quick projects have been a nice way for me to start out my year. They’ve allowed me extra time to do some behind-the-scenes work that will set my business up for continued success.
I’ve been learning a lot about business taxes, accounting, and book keeping. I’ve also completely overhauled my virtual workspace for a more efficient process.
The bit of extra time has also allowed me to do some nonwork reading (yes, I still love to read in my spare time when I can).
I do have a few bigger projects looming on the horizon that I’m looking forward to, but something I love about freelance editing is that I get projects of all sizes.
