On January 1st, 2026, I’ll be raising my rates for new clients.
If you’re a current client of mine, we’ll renegotiate on a case-by-case basis.
Proofreading will go from $.01 USD per word to $.012 USD per word.
Copyediting will go from $.013 USD per word to $.015 USD per word.
I’m a more experienced editor now, and the quality of my work has improved a lot since I last raised my rates a few years ago, so it makes sense that my time is more valuable than it used to be.
I also believe in getting what you pay for. When someone sees my rates, I need those numbers to better represent the quality of my work. My new rates are still below average according to the EFA’s chart, but this increase will put me a bit closer to those numbers.
Transparency is one of my core business values, so the purpose of this post is to be transparent and give potential clients plenty of notice before this change takes effect.
Thanks for reading.
