If you’ve never worked with me before, I’m a copyeditor and proofreader primarily working in fiction. I freelance for a number of companies including Kirkus Reviews, Felony & Mayhem Press, DartFrog Books, and Choice of Games. I’m honored to work with every company that takes me on, but I am extra proud to also work directly with authors themselves. Many of the authors I work with are self-publishing independently, and a good number of those are first-time authors.
Writing your first book and then either self-publishing or querying it with publishers is exciting but also scary and stressful, and I find great joy in helping these authors get their books into publishing shape. Checking grammar and punctuation (etc.) is a given when editing, but I also focus on ensuring consistency throughout a manuscript. Every project I work on gets an accompanying style sheet where I track any and every detail that could potentially have a discrepancy later on (from spellings to descriptors). Fantasy and science fiction are my favorite genres to work in, and they both lend themselves to being landmines of potentially contradicting details.
If you’re writing a book of any kind, I’d love to be a part of your journey. It doesn’t have to be within my favorite genres, as editing and maintaining consistency are crucial to any work. I offer a free sample edit prior to taking on your manuscript in order for us to assess whether or not we’re a good fit for a professional relationship. Feel free to reach out to me if you’re interested in working together.
