Do you know the difference between a “fiancée” and a “fiancé”?
As an editor I’m always learning new things. For instance, did you know that a “fiancée” is a woman engaged to be married, whereas a “fiancé” is a man engaged to be married? According to Merriam-Webster these two words are pronounced the same way, so people who aren’t immersed in the world of writing would probably be surprised by the variation in spelling. I know I certainly was when I first came across “fiancée” in a manuscript I was working on.
One of the things I love about my job is that I’m always learning facts like this.
My name is Timothy. I’m a copyeditor and proofreader working primarily in fiction. My current rates are $.013 USD per word for copyediting and $.01 USD per word for proofreading. I offer a free sample edit in order for us to determine if we’re a good fit for each other. I edit in accordance to the Chicago Manual of Style and diligently craft a style sheet for your manuscript as I go along, helping to maintain consistency. I freelance for a number of small publishers but am always looking to expand my own personal list of clients as well. If you’re interested in finding out what I can do for you, feel free to reach out to me.
